THINGS THAT ARE RECOMMENDED (MUSTAḤABB) FOR SOMEONE PERFORMING PRAYERS
The jurists (fuqahāʾ) – may Allah sanctify their souls – have known some things to be recommended for the clothing of someone performing prayers. These include:
v wearing a turban (ʿamāmah) with its final fold passing under the chin
(taḥt al‑ḥanak),
v wearing a cloak that rests on the shoulders (ʿabā),
v wearing white clothes,
v wearing very clean clothing,
v applying perfume, and
v wearing an agate (ʿaqīq) ring.
THINGS THAT ARE DISAPPROVED (MAKRŪH) FOR SOMEONE PERFORMING PRAYERS
The jurists – may Allah sanctify their souls – have known some things to be disapproved for the clothing of someone performing prayers. These include:
v wearing black clothes,
v wearing dirty or tight clothes,
v wearing clothes that have a picture of a face on them,
v leaving buttons open, and
v wearing a ring that has a picture of a face on it.
